After nearly three months without a goal, Bobby Wood has now scored two goals in his last two games.

Hanging on by a thread, Hamburger SV were looking to secure their third win of the Bundesliga season against Schalke 04. Leading 1-0 in the final ten minutes of the match, a through ball from the defense saw Wood streaking forward to the edge of Schalke’s box.

The United States International striker then chopped the ball inside onto his left foot and fired a curler into the upper left-hand corner of the goal, securing Hamburg a 2-0 lead.

Schalke 04 would close the gap in the dying embers of the game following a goal by Donis Avdijaj. However, Hamburg SV was able to grind out the result and earn themselves a much needed three points.

With this win, HSV has climbed above the relegation zone, giving the side a new hope for the second half of the season.
