Watch and VOTE: Red Bulls’ Lloyd Sam vs. NYCFC’s Mix Diskerud

It’s only one week into the MLS season and the #NYCSoccerWarz have already produced their first head-to-head competition.

New York Red Bull midfielder Lloyd Sam and New York City FC’s Mix Diskerud have been nominated for Goal of the Week honors by Major League Soccer.

Interestingly enough, their goals were strikingly similar (no pun intended — I swear).

In a variation of his infamous “Lloyd Sam Chop,” the English midfielder cracked the ankles of his Sporting KC markers with a nifty cutback, creating space and sending a picture-perfect curler to the far post for the game’s deciding goal.  Likewise, Diskerud managed a curler of his own, taking on a Villa feed in space and blasting a shot past Donovan Ricketts to open the scoring at the Citrus Bowl.

Now the question remains — who did it better?

We leave that for you to decide.
