Watch: Tim Cahill ties Australia’s All-Time goal scoring record

Red Bulls midfielder Tim Cahill said it all season long; whether playing as a striker or a midfielder, disruptor or distributor, he would always try to be “an impact player” for his club.

The same attitude goes for the Australian National Team. Playing a friendly against Costa Rica under new coach Ange Postecoglou, Cahill made the most of his chance as a 52nd minute sub, nailing an eventual game-winning header just 17 minutes into his shift to gift the new boss his first victory in his first game in charge.

That goal was Cahill’s 29th goal in 65 international appearances, tying the previous Australian scoring record held by Damian Mori who achieved 29 goals in only 45 caps.

Teammate Roy Miller did not feature for Costa Rica.
