Not so fast.
Mimicking the message of Red Bulls Global Director of Soccer Gerard Houllier, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has now ruled out a Gunners return for the French fan favorite.
“I do not think it would be good for him to play with us again,” Wenger told the Metro publication. “He should relax and prepare for the next MLS season.”
His words follow suit with that of Houllier who also suggested some time off for the new father would likely be best. Much like his loan last season, Henry was expected to plug holes as a bevvy of Arsenal stars went off for the African Cup of Nations. With Marouane Chamakh ruled out of the tournament, that need lessened considerably.
The 34 year old striker will begin the final year of his contract with the Red Bulls come this March.
