Yanks Abroad: Weekend Roundup

American players across Europe logged some minutes (while others did not) before the coming international break for World Cup qualifying matches. Here are some highlights:

Christian Pulisic (Dortmund)

Pulisic played the full 90 as Dortmund defeated Hertha Berlin. Dortmund is one of the two Bundesliga teams that has not conceded a goal this season. Dortmund is in first place with six points.

Cameron Carter-Vickers (Sheffield United)

Before the weekend, Carter-Vickers signed an extension with Tottenham Hotspur while agreeing to a season-long loan with Sheffield United. He did not appear in United’s 3-1 win against Derby County.

Fabian Johnson (Mönchengladbach)

Johnson saw his first minutes, as a substitute, of the 2017-18 Bundesliga season. He checked in for 10 minutes as Mönchengladbach tied Augsburg, 2-2.

Bobby Wood (Hamburg)

Wood scored his first goal of the season in Hamburg’s 3-1 victory against Koln. Hamburg has won both of its first two matches of the season, which groups it with Dortmund, Munich and Hannover 96 at the top of the Bundesliga table.

Timothy Chandler (Eintracht Frankfurt)

Chandler drew a yellow card in Frankfurt’s 1-0 loss to Wolfsburg. Frankfurt has yet to win a match this season, drawing one and losing the other.

Geoff Cameron (Stoke City)

Stoke City drew, 1-1, with West Bromwich over the weekend. Cameron played 69 minutes in an unfamiliar position. He did not score or assist while playing as a right midfielder.

Danny Williams (Huddersfield Town)

Huddersfield has yet to lose in its first three matches of the Premier League season. Williams has played a small role as a substitute during that run. He played 29 minutes in Huddersfield’s 0-0 draw against Southampton on Saturday.

Matt Miazga (Vitesse Arnhem)

Vitesse suffered its first loss of the season against Alkmaar, 2-1. Miazga played the entire second half and saw a yellow card in the 87th minute.

Alfredo Morales (Ingolstadt)

Ingolstadt has had a rough time since dropping down to the 2. Bundesliga. In its first three matches of the season, the the lost all three. It wasn’t until this weekend when Inglostadt earned its first three points of the season. Morales played the full 90 as a right-back as Ingolstadt defeated Greuther Fürth, 1-0.

Ethan Horvath (Brugge)

Horvath recorded his second shutout of the season as Club Brugge trampled over Standard Liege, 4-0. Brugge is undefeated in its first five matches of the season.
