The United States Soccer Federation has confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that Arsenal midfielder Gedion Zelalem has been cleared to represent the U.S. on the international level.

The 18-year-old has officially been added to Tab Ramos’ U-20 World Cup roster, as the 21st and final addition to the squad ahead of Friday’s deadline.

It is still unclear if Zelalem will be called into this summer’s Gold Cup squad, but many believe his involvement with the senior team will come sooner rather than later.

While this is a major win for Jurgen Klinsmann, it is important to remember that the midfielder is not cap tied until he plays in an official FIFA competition at the senior level.

Players begin reporting to the National Training Center in Carson California tomorrow before the squad leaves for training camp in Australia on Saturday.

The first match of the tournament is on May 30th in Whangarei, New Zealand, against Myanmar.

All matches can be seen of Fox Sports 1 and NBC Universo.
